A member of the family behind popular New Jersey eatery has come across the Delaware River with a new iteration known asย DeLorenzo’s The Burg.
DeLorenzo’s The Burg opened about three months ago on the 8000 block of New Falls Road in Falls Township’s Levittown section with little fanfare. Owned and operated by Tyler DeLorenzo, a third generation pizza maker, The Burg brings the popular Trenton tomato pie to Pennsylvania.

DeLorenzo has been working in the industry with his uncle since before high school and learned a lot at his grandfather’s eatery in the Chamberburg section of Trenton.
DeLorenzo said that even from a young age, he knew he wanted to open his own restaurant.
“I liked the business and everything about it,” DeLorenzo told LevittownNow.com.

After high school, DeLorenzo went to culinary school. He paid his way through by working with his uncle and dad while running his own photography business.
Before he opened the Levittown location, DeLorenzo ran a food truck, DeLorenzo’s on the Go, out of his uncle’s Sloan Avenue location in Hamilton, New Jersey. The truck acted like a stepping stone, DeLorenzo explained, and brought the reality of owning his own spot a bit closer.

“So far, the feedback has been really great,” DeLorenzo said between helping customers during a busy lunch rush.
While handing customers ย their take out order, DeLorenzo makes sure to lead them outside, holding the door for them.
If it seemed as though there was a lack of advertising when The Burg opened its doors, there was. The deliberate lack of advertising gave DeLorenzo and his staff some time to get on their game before patrons excited about the Trenton tomato pie his family is known for flooded the Levittown store.

“We just didn’t know how it was going to work out,” DeLorenzo said. One the first friday the store was open, they sold out around 7:30 p.m.
“Everyone is very excited that I’m basically in their backyard and that they don’t have to come across the bridge anymore,” DeLoorenzo added.

From the first step inside The Burg, it is obvious that the DeLorenzo’s business DNA is in the framework of the business. The food, customer service and bow ties all scream DeLorenzo’s pie, a brand widely known for their iconic food that started in Trenton.
