Teens and adults in the Lower Bucks County area will be introduced to a technology which pinpoints the dangers of texting while driving in a safe, controlled environment.
The technology, AWARE-TEXT, which will allow teens and adults to sit in a real car which is suspended and monitored with sensors to simulate real driving, will be brought to the Team Toyota of Langhorne on Saturday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., thanks to the nationwide health and wellness group the PEERS Foundation.

According to officials, the software renders a virtual field of vision, visible on a lightweight heads-up display worn by the “driver.” This software also renders various road conditions, like rain and snow. The students will then experience the difficulty of texting while driving in a completely safe environment, which allows students to fully appreciate the dangers without risking their safety.
The simulator is becoming a fast favorite among high school and college campuses around the country.
The event is made possible by contributions from Team Toyota and is a completely free event for the community.
