Police were able to peacefully end a stressful situation in Tullytown Tuesday night.

Borough officers were called to Lilac Lane in the Levittown section for a 9-1-1 hang-up call around 10:06 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found an upset woman who was screaming.

The woman, according to police Chief Daniel Doyle, continued screaming and went inside a Lilac Lane home. She then threw a frying pan through a window at police officers.

Doyle said officers spotted the woman with “what appeared to be” a rifle. She eventually put the weapon in her mouth.

Falls Township police Officer Jeffrey Rhodunda was able to talk down the woman and get her to surrender, Doyle said.

The woman was taken for a mental health evaluation, and it was determined the weapon was a pellet gun, the chief said.

Bristol Township, Falls and Middletown officers assisted Tullytown police at the scene.

Doyle said the South Central Emergency Response Team was dispatched but was not needed due to the standoff ending after only a few minutes.
