Oil Leftover From French Fries Causes Blaze

Leftover oil from a batch of french fries is to blame for a Thursday night fire.

According to Bristol Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack, firefighters were called to the 700 block Corson Street around 10 p.m. They found flames coming from the kitchen of the duplex-style home and extending into the dining room and patio area.

Fire crews quickly went to work and placed the stubborn blaze under control at 11:01 p.m.

Slack said the resident of the home had cooked french fries earlier in the night and failed to turn off the stove and pan of oil from the burner. At some point, the oil ignited and spread to the kitchen cabinet, only extending from there.

No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to the connected home, Slack said.

Bucks County Fire Marshal Kevin Flannagan investigated the blaze.

Crews from America Hose, Hook and Ladder, Bristol, Bristol Consolidated, Croydon, Edgely, Goodwill Hose and Third District fire companies responded along with the Bucks County Rescue Squad.
