It’s going to be at least another month before Falls Township officials can formally discuss a controversial development.

During their meeting Tuesday evening, Board Chairman Bob Harvie said four items related to the redevelopment of the former Acme shopping center at the corner of Pine Grove Road and West Trenton Avenue had to be tabled due to an mistake by the Bucks County Courier Times.

The items related to the proposed Morrisville Commons development are expected to be brought up in the May meeting, which will be held Monday, May 15 due to primary election day.

The proposed shopping area will have a 5,585-square-foot Wawa with six gas pumps and 12 gasoline and diesel pumping stations. Morrisville Commons will also feature a 14,578-square-foot Rite Aid and an 1,850-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru, which has not yet been named.

Falls supervisors are expected to vote on amended preliminary and final land development, and conditional use related to the proposed Wawa gas station and sewer planning.

The newspaper, according to Harvie, mistakenly published the meeting notice in a publication they own in New Jersey and not in the Bucks County Courier Times. The chairman said keeping the items on the agenda without notice being published in the newspaper of record would violate state law.

The newspaper’s classified advertising manager blamed the mistake on a “systems error,” according to the Bucks County Courier Times. The next ad will run in the local newspaper for free.

In March, the Morrisville Commons project was moved to the April meeting due to scheduling conflicts.

The proposed development has drawn concern and vocal opposition and support at meetings over the past two years. Residents worried about traffic, crime and noise have all made their voices heard.
