The Pennsbury Education Foundation (PEF) recentlyย awarded a total of ten grants to schools across the Pennsbury School District, totaling overย $20,000. The PEF is a 501(c)(3) organization that relies on donations and supports the purposeย of improving teaching and learning in Pennsbury through innovative educational initiatives.ย Grants are awarded through an application process that occurs twice each year.

โThe PEF Board is pleased to support a variety of school initiatives through our second round ofย grants for the current academic year. The next round will be offered in the fall. We value theย work that our teachers do in the classroom, and we look for effective ways to distribute funds twice each school year to benefit our students,โ said Annette Young, PEF President.
The following grant recipients were announced:
- Fallsington Elementary Principal Brian Shaffer and teacher Meghan Mix – $725 for the Mystery Math Show student assembly;
- Edgewood Elementary Principal Stephanie Hultquist and teacher Joseph Gallo – $500 to partially fund the purchase of heart rate monitors for students.
- Makefield Elementary Principal Donna McCormick-Miller and teacher Molly Werthman – $3,050 to purchase literacy materials for Kindergarten and first grade;
- Makefield Elementary Principal Donna McCormick-Miller and teacher Alison Majikas – $589.99 to purchase Kโnex materials for STEM design work;
- Penn Valley Elementary Principal Barbara Hidalgo and teacher Betty Zubrzycki – $1,099 to purchase five standing student desks;
- Quarry Hill Elementary Principal Peggy Schiavone and teacher Robyn Rowlands – $2,000 to partially fund Cubelet blocks for robot building activities;
- Charles Boehm Middle School Principal Theresa Ricci and teacher Anita Quinn – $3,000 to purchase a portable design center;
- William Penn Middle School Principal Christopher Becker and teacher Jeffrey Kobasa –ย $4,500 to purchase new stage curtains for the school cafetorium;
- Pennsbury High School East Principal Reggie Meadows and teacher Lauren Woodson –ย $3,815.68 to purchase 30 graphing calculators; and
- Pennsbury High School West Principal Lisa Becker and teacher Linda Smith – $950 forย an interactive concert in the German language.

In addition to gathering generous donations from local funding sources and individual donors, the PEF also participates in the PA Department of Community and Economic Developmentโsย Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program, which awards tax credits to businesses makingย contributions to the PEF.
