PennDOT announced last week that the northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. Route 1 will be closed this week at the Oxford Valley Road Interchange in Falls Township and Lower Makefield.

The road closures will take place overnight from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Sunday, April 9 through Friday, April 14 to continue bridge rehabilitation of the structurally deficient Oxford Valley Road overpass. During construction, Route 1 motorists will exit at Oxford Valley Road and then re-enter the highway at the entrance ramps at the interchange.

Motorists in the area have been advised to allow extra time when traveling because slowdowns may occur.

Work crews began construction back in November, after the bridge was damaged when it was struck by an oversized truck in June 2015.

Crews will continue to replace two steel beams and repair three steel beams. Construction on the bridge is scheduled to finish in June 2017.

The work is part of PennDOTโ€™s $11,766,000 project to replace six structurally deficient culverts in Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties, and rehabilitate four structurally deficient bridges in Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.
