Snow on the ground won’t stop Levittown area Rita’s Italian Ice locations from offering free water ice Monday.
As they have for the past 25 years, all Rita’s Italian Ice locations will be offering free water ice cups to help welcome spring on Monday, March 20 from noon to 9 p.m.

Rita’s gave away 1.2 million cups of their famous water ice on the first day of spring in 2012, according to the Bensalem-based company.
In accordance with the 21st Century, Rita’s is asking people to share their #RitasFirstDayofSpring photographs on social media. A contest based around the images is being held.
Former Philadelphia firefighter Bob Tumolo started the chain in Bensalem in 1984. Since then, the company has been sold and expanded with stores across the globe.

If you’re looking to support smaller, locally-owned businesses, Jo-Jo’s Ice Cream & Water Ice on New Falls Road in Levittown, McGinty’s Ice Cream Creations on Levittown Parkway in Levittown, Gibby’s Ice Cream on Veterans Highway in Levittown, Dairy Delite on Woodborune Road in Levittown, Mom’s Homemade Water Ice & Ice Cream on Pine Street in Langhorne are all open for business. Also, Richmond’s Ice Cream and Burgers will be opening along Emilie Road in Bristol Township will be opening early this spring.
