Falls Township’s Quaker Penn Park along the Delaware River will be receiving an upgrade.
The park that abuts Pennsbury Manor will receive a $271,719 Municipal Open Space Improvement Grant. The money will be used to enhance river access for kayaking and fishing, connect a trail and add a playground and bathrooms, according to David Johnson, who works for the Bucks County Planning Commission.

The total project will cost a little over $300,000. Johnson said the remaining funds will be provided by the township.
Johnson told the Bucks County Commissioners, who approved the grant earlier this week, that the park is well-attended.
The Bucks County Commissioners also agreed to spend a $500,000 Natural Areas Program grant to buy 59 acres along SEPTA’s West Trenton Line in Bensalem to protect the property from development.

In addition, the commissioners voted to help fund the purchase of conservation easements for 89 acres of farmland spread between two properties in Hilltown and Milford.
