Police continue to investigate the tragic death of a 5-year-old boy who was struck by a pickup truck Wednesday.

James Lee, of Falls Township, was near the home he shared with his parents and four siblings around 3 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by the pickup truck in the Bel-Aire mobile home community on Old Bristol Pike in the Morrisville section of Falls.

The coroner on Friday told Calkins Media that the Lee died of head trauma.

Police said CPR was performed on the boyย at the scene but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at Aria Health’s Bucks County campus.

The driver of the pickup truck that hit Lee drove a short distance from the scene to call 9-1-1. His actions were due to bystanders who began attacking his vehicle after the crash, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck was cooperating with investigators and submitted a blood test, Lt. Hank Ward said.

An obituary for Lee said he will be remembered as a “fearless, happy free spirit who loved looking at the moon.”

Donations to help pay for Lee’s funeral can be made here.
