Falls Township is purchasing five new police cars and a K-9.
The Board of Supervisors last week voted to approve a $193,000 payment for two 2017 Dodge Chargers, two 2017 Ford Utility Interceptors and one Ford Explorer, Chief William Wilcox said.

One of the Ford Utility Interceptors is replacing an SUV totaled in a crash with volunteer firefighter in December. The township is getting $33,600 from its insurance company for the vehicle, Wilcox said.
Older police vehicles are recycled through the department and township. If any vehicles are still running after use by police and other township departments, they vehicles are donated to the Pennsbury School District, Wilcox said.
“We get our monies worth,” he told the Board of Supervisors.

In addition, the township will be accepting a new K-9 that will be assigned to Officer Thomas Lundquist.
Seven local businesses donated $7,000 for the dog, which is named Ziko and was brought up in Germany, Wilcox said.

Police are expected to make plaques to thank the businesses who donated to the dog fund.
