Daytime Lane Restrictions Planned For Route 1

PennDOT will be restricting lanes in both directions on Route 1 at the Oxford Valley Road interchange this week.

According to PennDOT officials, the northbound and southbound lanes of Route 1 will be restricted at the interchange that sits in Falls and Middletown townships. The project will happen this Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The daytime restrictions will allow contractors to rehabilitate the Oxford Valley Road overpass, which was damaged in a 2015 crash. The three-span, I-beam bridge is having two steel beams replaced and three other steel beams being repaired.

Work on the bridge started in November and will be completed by June.

The bridge carries 31,000 vehicles per day and was built in 1972.

PennDOT’s project to repair the bridge is part of an $11.7 million project to replace and repair 10 bridges in the Philadelphia region.
