Eight people were sent to the hospital following a crash on Woodbourne Road in Middletown Thursday evening.

A Toyota Tacoma driven by a woman slammed into a Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT that was stopped at the Five Points intersection red light around 7 p.m. The Toyota flipped onto its side near the entrance to the county complex that houses the Levittown Library, police said.
Firefighters from the Levittown No. 2, Newportville and William Penn fire companies were called to the scene to help free the Toyota driver, who may have been intoxicated, police said.
Officer Michael Stumm said the driver of the Toyota was taken to St. Mary Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. The two parents and their five children who were in the Chevrolet were transported to the hospital for relatively minor injuries.

The crash remained under investigation as of Thursday night.
