Over the last three years, the parents of kids in the Fairless Hills Athletic Association have been fundraising with the ultimate goal of building their own batting practice facility.
In October 2016, that goal became a reality when the group broke ground on a 40 by 80 batting practice facility of Edgemont Road in Falls Township.

The Fairless Hills Athletic Association previously needed to rent out other practice spaces for winter batting, but now the little league association has their own space.
“To have this come together is just insane for us,” said Jill Gorman, the board secretary and web director for the association.
The entire building was put together by the volunteer work of parents over the course of only three months. Volunteers worked on the new facility during the weekends, after work and whenever there was a free minute.

The only monetary cost for the building was the $35,000 needed for materials.

Since January’s grand opening, the space has been filled with athletes trying to better their craft, be it through batting, or if the three netted tunnels are raised, their fielding.

“It’s giving us a little bit of an advantage, which we didn’t get before,” Gorman told LevittownNow.com.
The facility is being used constantly throughout the week, either by the association which built it, or other local leagues renting it out.
The private practice building for Winter practices has been something that the 180-player league has always wanted, and the fact that it finally came together is huge for the association, Gorman said.

“For these boys to see what their dads are doing and how they made a change to the league is so exciting for them and they are so proud,” Gorman said.
