William “Willie” Thomas, 58, of Falls Township, was arraigned via video link Tuesday before District Judge Jan Vislosky on 51 counts of various charges, including rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggregated sexual assault of a child, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of a child, indecent exposure and other related offenses. In addition, he was charged with three misdemeanor drug offenses.

NJ.com reported that Thomas had not yet filed a public defender request form and was not represented by a lawyer.

“I just need somebody to believe that I’m not the evil, disgusting person that people are making me out to be,” Thomas reportedly told the judge.

“I’m getting treated very awfully and I’m just scared to death. I never inflicted any kind of pain that I’m receiving right now on a kid, never inflicted any pain on a child, nor would I want to,” Thomas said, according to the website.

Vislosky set bail for Thomas at 10 percent of $750,000, which on top of a previous bail amount of 10 percent of $150,000.

Authorities said Thomas is behind what is likely Bucks County’s most profile child sexual abuse case that could span back as long as 40 years. As of Monday, police already knew of six victims – who were molested between the ages of 2 and 10 – and expected more to come forward following publication of  Thomas’ arrest.

While investigators only have victims that trace the alleged molestations back to the 1990s, court documents indicate there is information that Thomas’ sexual interest in children dates to the 1970s.

Detectives from Falls Township and Bucks County spent four days executing a search warrant on Thomas’ mobile home in the Midway Village community off Bristol Pike late last week. Police said they found 1,000 images of naked children, some prepubescent, and snaps of sexual assaults on young girls occurring. The walls were filled with hundreds, possibly even thousands, of little girl’s underwear, many of which were soiled.

Thomas, a longtime mobile home handyman and construction contractor, moved to the Bristol Pike community about 10 years ago after residing at the Pennsbury Woods Apartments on New Falls Road and spent decades living inside his childhood home on Pleasant Lane in Levittown.

“The human race hasn’t come up with words to describe what we saw in that trailer,” Falls Lt. Hank Ward said Monday.
