
A Bristol Borough man was charged this week after allegedly violating a protection from abuse order shortly before Christmas.
On December 21, Matthew Gulick, 33, was served a protection from abuse order. At that point, he gathered up his things and left the residence with no problem, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The next morning, December 22, Bristol Borough officers were called to a domestic call on Pond Street in Bristol Borough at 9 a.m. Upon arriving, they found Gulick on the porch, which violated the protection from abuse order,ย police said.
Immediately, officers noted that he looked like he was highly intoxicated, police said.
When officers told Gulick that he was under arrest for violating a protection from abuse order, he pulled away and started to fight with the officers.ย Heย knocked the glasses off of one of the lawmen and resisted to the point where officers thought it necessary to use a stun gun.

Police paperwork notes that two stun gun deployments were ineffective and the two officers on scene had to call for a third officer for assistance.

According to the probable cause affidavit, when the third officer responded, Gulick was quickly subdued, but not before bitingย the arm of one of the original responding officers.
After being taken into custody, Gulick was transported to Lower Bucks Hospital for medical attention, police said.

Gulick is facing three felony counts of aggravated assault, three misdemeanors of simple assault, three misdemeanors of recklessly endangering another individual, a misdemeanor of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct and three summary charges of harassment.
Gulickโs bail was set at 10 percent of $500,000 at an arraignment and he was remanded to Bucks County jail.
