Rumors Of Student With Gun Were False, Authorities Say

Despite what you may have heard, there was no student with a gun Friday at Harry S. Truman High School in Bristol Township.

School administration and police confirmed Friday afternoon that there was never a student on campus with a gun or hit list. The rumor that led to some students not showing up for school was likely related to an unfounded threat from Monday.

Police said they were not called to the high school at any point on Friday.

At no point today was any student or person arrested and escorted from the building in handcuffs by the Bristol Township Police Department,” an letter to parents from the school administration said, adding that no weapon was found in the school.

“These rumors were generated from a source that is unknown to us. The safety of all staff and students are our greatest priority. If at any point we felt there was a threat to the safety of our school environment, we would take all necessary precautions to insure the safety of all,” high school Principal  Lyndell Davis wrote to parents.

The district is planning a normal day for students on Monday.
