Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said the fire started when a pan with grease in it overheated and ignited. The flames spread to the kitchen cabinets and ceiling above.

The fire was placed under control a short time after it was reported.

The residents will be staying with family until the fire damage is repaired, Dippolito said.
