Bristol Borough’s business district was packed with residents and visitors for theย annual Christmas tree lighting Friday night.

The event has become a staple in the borough. Along with the tree lighting, there were carolers, ice skaters, dancers and business owners meeting new customers.
Immediately following the tree lighting, crowds chanting for Santa Claus cheered as he came out of the King George II Inn. He went to the gazebo on the waterfront where he took photos with children.
The huge evergreen was donated by Dave and JoAnn Carr from Levittown. Jim’s Tree Service removed and planted the tree, and JMW Equipment transported it. The donors for the event included Art and Sandy Mattia, the Rotary Club of Bristol, and the Bristol Lions Club.

“This is the best tree lighting in the county,” Bill Pezza said at the start of the program. His reasoning was due to the donors, the crowd and the town itself for making the event happen.
Ralph DiGuissepe, president of Bristol Borough Council,ย introduced Congressman-elect Brian Fitzpatrick, who helped light the tree. New Major Joe Saxton was at the event along with State Rep. John Galloway.
The tree lighting chairpersons are JoAnna Schneyder, Ron Walker and Mycle Gorman.
