Bristol Borough Docks Seeing Steady Progress

bdocks3135The project to addย docks alongย the Delaware River at the base of Mill Street isย moving forward steadily.

According to Bristol Borough Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe II, the docks will take about two months to complete and construction is now far off.

The docks are being assembled off site and when construction is ready, will be floated up river on a barge. The barge will be in place around December or January,ย DiGuiseppe said.

“The only thing I can see going wrong is the pylons,” DiGuiseppe said, indicating that the project will likely go according to plan and without extra costs.

In summer, the council awarded the docks contract to PKF-Mark III Inc. for a sum of $2,269,124. The borough currently has $3 million in grants for the project. Including contingencies, the total cost is estimated at right around $3 million.

The docks are expected draw more business to the borough and the centralย business district.

“I am confident that this job will come in where we want it to,” DiGuiseppe said.
