A 45-year-old Bristol Township man is accused of being intoxicated while leading Falls Township police on a brief chase.
Police said they were called around 9:06 p.m. Sunday to Waltham Road for a report of a speeding vehicle. The blue pickup truck was said to be driving erratically through the Fairless Hills neighborhood.

Officer Ronald MacPherson located the blue pickup truck as it drove on Waltham Road toward Wyanotte Road and spotted one of its taillights were out, according to court papers.
The officer activated his patrol vehicle’s emergency lights and siren and the truck pulled over in the 200 block of Waltham Road.
The driver- identified as Patrick Brophy – stepped out of the vehicle and had trouble standing. As MacPherson opened his patrol vehicle’s door, Brophy then got in the pickup truck and drove away, police said.

Following what MacPherson described as a “brief chase,” Brophy stopped and was arrested, police said.
“Once in custody, I detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from [Brophy],” MacPherson wrote. “The defendant’s eyes were glassy and he was slurring his speech.”
The officer was not able to perform field sobriety test and Brophy was transported to a local hospital for a blood draw, police said.

Brophywas arraigned Monday morning on a charge on felony fleeing or alluding an officer, misdemeanor DUI and several summary traffic offenses. He was remanded to prison on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
