“Trick-or-treating was kind of lacking in Croydon,” Prendergast said.
“We kind of wanted to be that house,” the Croydon residentย said, referencing the plan to become a Halloween centerpiece where locals could come to get a scare.
Last year was the biggest year so far and given the plans for this year’s haunt, there doesn’t appear to be any signs of slowing down the fear. New features this year include a living-dead butcher shop and zombies in a scene from the hit movie “Frozen.”

Taking anywhere between one to two weeks to set up, the handmade set pieces use high-tech equipment such as smoke machines and projectors to create a one-of-a-kind experience.
The haunted house takes place one night only – Halloween from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. The attraction is free but donations are accepted.
The actors who man the displays on Girard Avenue are of all ages, including Prendergast’s own children. “We have a fantastic cast,” she said.
