If firefighters weren’t so quick to arrive, a home in Falls Township would have been completely consumed by flames, according to the fire marshal.
Crews from the Falls Township, Levittown No. 1, Levittown No. 2 and Morrisville fire companies quickly arrived to the scene in the 20 block of Jennifer Drive and fought the flames as they spread throughout the attached garage Monday morning. Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said he arrived to heavy smoke showing and within a short period of time, flames were shooting from the roof of the garage and small explosions were occurring inside.

A resident at the home was using a consumer-grade deep fryer in the garage when she walked away for a minute. In that short amount of time, the fryer caught fire and quickly spread to the garage structure. A knock by a passerby alerted the homeowner and firefighters were dispatched around 10:55 a.m. Monday, according to officials.
By 11:15 a.m., the fire was placed under control and living portion of the house was relatively undamaged.

“The [firefighters] really deserve credit for a quick knock,” Dippolito said.

The woman who was cooking in the fryer escaped before firefighters arrived, officials said.
Neighbors looked on as fire crews battled the flames and checked to make sure the fire did not spread far into the attached home. Two cars suffered damage from the heat of the flames and nearby vegetation was charred.
