A Levittown woman is being charged after finding a credit card that didn’t belong to her on the floor and using it.
Denise Kowal, 49, of Levittown, is accused by Middletown police for her alleged connection with a burglary from the Attleboro Village, a retirement community. In the incident, Kowal found an elderly resident’s credit card on the floor in June and proceeded to take it, police said.

Officials were able to track Kowal down after viewing the Wawa surveillance footage at the time that the stolen card was swiped at an ATM. She initially denied involvement to the theft, but when confronted with the information from the Wawa investigation, she admitted to attempting to use the card to steal money, police said.
Kowal is registered as a home health aide and had a client in Attleboro Village, a probable cause affidavit states.
Kowal told investigators that she knew it was wrong to use it, but did it anyway, police said.

The home health aide allegedly took the card around the same time a number of burglaries had taken place at Attleboro Village, but she was involved in those crimes, police said.
Kowal is being charged with felony burglary and a number of misdemeanors including theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. Her bail was set at 10 percent of $30,000, which a family member was able to post.
