Bristol Borough is recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library.
On Monday evening, the Bristol Borough Council issued a proclamation honoring the town’s library that sits along the Delaware River at 680 Redcliffe Street. The proclamation was issued by Councilman Tony Riccio and Mayor Patrick Sabatini.

Founded in 1966 by Joseph Grundy and constructed by the Grundy Foundation, the Grundy Library has become a staple in the diverse riverfront town.
“We greatly appreciate all you have done for the foundation, and all the foundation has done for the borough,” Sabatini said to Eugene Williams of the Grundy Foundation and Dana Barber, the library administrator.
Events have persisted throughout the first months of the year, including a birthday party, a local history quiz night and a festival to learn new things. To cap off the festivities, the library is hosting an exhibit celebrating 50 years of history.

The exhibit will feature a pictorial review, displays about the library, a station where visitors can add their messages to a fabric weaving for the time capsule project, bookmark creation stations, footage of the library opening and information on prior libraries in Bristol. The exhibit’s opening night will be held on Thursday, October 6 at 6 p.m. at the Grundy Library.
