African American Day drew hundreds to the Bristol Wharf Saturday.
The cultural day is one of the many celebrations that happen at the riverside park in Bristol Borough.

Barbara Allen, 70, lives in Bristol Township and has been involved with the Bucks County African Americans for Future Education, for at least 15 years.ย According to Allen, almost a year of planning goes into the event. Any proceeds from the event go towards scholarships. Last year, the scholarships benefited Harry S. Truman High School graduates.
“Weย like the whole community coming together, this is a family affair,” Allen said.
Many local organizations come together in order to put the event on as well. PECO, Lower Bucks Hospital and the Grundy Library were all supporting the event.

The African American Historical and Cultural Society of Bucks County also had a table to show off a number of historical photographs and artifacts.
“We want to encourage people to recognize all of the points of view that are available,” Louise Davis, a member of the society said.

The Society is working on a museum where all of the photographs will be stored and shared with the public, according to Davis. Plans are still coming together though.
