Local sheriff’s deputies and police went above and beyond to help an out-of-state family looking to visit Sesame Place.
Sgt. Joseph Rafferty of the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office recently received a call from a law enforcement office in Okeechobee County, Florida in reference to a friend traveling with their disabled and autistic 5-year-old daughter. The family had become stranded in Bensalem recently while heading to Sesame Place in Middletown. Rafferty learned the out-of-town family was stuck in a Bensalem hotel room while they waited to have their car repaired with no way to get to the theme park, according to Facebook post on the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office page.

Rafferty contacted the dealership where the car was being repaired and learned the work was going to take longer than initially anticipated.
After learning the news the car might not be ready for the family in time to salvage the vacation, Rafferty gathered fellow deputies along with Bensalem and Middletown police to transport the family to Sesame Place.
“We decided this little girl drove from Florida to Pennsylvania just to go to Sesame place, and we were going to make it happen,” the sheriff’s office said in their post.

Officials said Rafferty and deputies Matthew Allen and Richard Otto worked with Bensalem Sgt. Joseph Blickley and Middletown Sgt. Matt Kroiss and Officer Dave Berry.
