The bomb squad determined the object was a homemade soldering device left near the rear of a car to air out until the spray paint smell wore off, county spokes Chris Edwards said.

The owner of the device spoke with authorities after realizing the attention was for the object and it was deemed safe, Edwards said.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad was dispatched to Core Creek Park in Middletown Friday evening for a reported “suspicious device.”

The device was spotted under a vehicle in the parking lot at Dutchess Lane, which is closest to the playground and pavilion near Lake Luxembourg, according to an official. Bucks County Rangers and police secured the scene around 6 p.m. until the bomb squad arrived to examine the device.

Rangers, Middletown police, Bucks County Detectives along with the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company and Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad responded to the scene.
