According to investigators, the dog was in the home and confronted the person who burglarized the home. At some point during the burglary, the suspect shot the dog in the head.

Neighbors reported seeing a suspect flee the home. The suspect was described as a thin black male with wavy hair, about 5-foot-six and wearing a long-sleeve hoodie, police said.

The dog was last reported in stable condition.
