In the distance, the sounds of exploding 120mm mortars could be heard. The exercisesย at the large military base involved theย Pennsylvaniaย Army National Guard’sย 1st Battalion, 111th Infantry Regiment. The training started last week during daylight hours and will continue until Tuesday.

While the sound travels from time to time to Bucks County, ground shaking is reported closer to the base, which sits about 15 miles away from Levittown.

The base posted to social media a video of troops firing a mortar round during training over the weekend. The mortar is being fired from the back of an armored troop carrier.

Base officials said the training ensures the guard units are properly trained.
