The Friends of the Levittown Library hosted their beach blanket book sale, flea market and silent auction this past Saturday.
The volunteer group works throughout the year to raise money and support the library that sits on the county property in Bristol Township. Friends of the Levittown Library host two big sales throughout the year, with a third smaller one at the beginning of summer. The big sales, in April and October, boast between 13,000 and 14,000 books. Saturday’s sale had three thousand books for sale in the room to the right of the library’s entrance.

Jim Puzo has been volunteering with the Friends of the Levittown Library for more than 20 years. According to Puzo, even the smaller sale on Saturday required more than 100 hours of volunteer work. Puzo describes the people working with the library as “volunteers willing to put time in and raise money” for the library.
“We’ve tried everything to raise money, and sales are the biggest money maker,” Puzo said.
Nancy Masulis, president of the volunteer group for 15 years, said she got involved when a member of the volunteer organization asked her to help out at one of the book sales she was attending.

That is also how got involved with the group.
Included in the book sale is a silent auction, where rarer or more valuable items can be bid upon. The auction will run through the end of the month, said volunteer Jeff Fiedler.

“It’s a fun sale,” he said.
The group has about 50 volunteers in total and about 20 of them helped with Saturday’s sale.
