The Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library has been providing invaluable library services to the greater Bristol Borough community for 50 years. To mark this golden anniversary, the public is invited to the Library’s How-to Festival: Learn 50 Things on Our 50th on Saturday, May 21st from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. This free, fun-filled family event is an opportunity to visit the Library’s 680 Radcliffe Street campus and learn “how-to” while enjoying food, music, and dance among friends and family. Kicking off the day’s events at 10:00 am is Keynote Speaker Dr. Evan Malone, Founder & President of NextFab, Inc. (http://nextfab.com).

During the event, the public is welcome to leave their cars at the Island View Crossing parking lot located at 1414 Radcliffe Street; Radcliffe Street will be closed between Penn and Washington Streets and Dorrance Street will be closed between Radcliffe and Cedar Streets. To assist individuals getting around, a free bus shuttle will be provided between the Festival site and the parking lot between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Over 60 presenters will be on hand throughout the day to present a myriad of topics. Some highlights include, learn how to do balloon sculpting, quilling, mix custom oil paint colors, design a terrarium, stand-up paddle boarding & kayaking, apply faux finishes, create a budget, make salsa, knot tying, brew coffee, write historical fiction, perform the Heimlich Maneuver, dance the Bristol Stomp, and compost. For the younger crowd, participants can learn how to knit, make origami butterflies, switch model trains for fun, build a simple circuit using littleBits™, fix a flat tire, and much more!
This program is offered by Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library in support of the PA Forward | Pennsylvania Libraries initiative. Libraries are key to powering progress and elevating the quality of life in PA by fueling the types of knowledge essential to success: Basic Literacy, Information Literacy, Civic and Social Literacy, Health Literacy, and Financial Literacy.
