The Bristol Borough Learning Centers invite Borough resident students entering grades 1 – 8 (September 2016) attending public, parochial or private schools to participate in the 2016 Snyder-Girotti Summer STREAM (Science, Technology, Recreation, Engineering, Art, Math) Camp.

The Camp is sponsored by the Bristol Borough School District and is funded primarily by a 21^st Century Community Grant and partially by both Borough Council (third consecutive year) and the Advisory Oversight Committee (AOC), a volunteer entity comprised of residents and local stakeholders created in 2010 by the Grundy Foundation to advocate for student achievement and to assist the District in attaining state-mandated performance standards. The AOC provides support for expenses such as food, transportation, entertainment and supplemental wages, all of which are prohibited by 21^st Century Community Grant funding (Federal DOE funds administered by the PA DOE) supporting Bristol Borough Learning Centers.

The six-week Camp is scheduled Mondays – Thursdays, from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., starting July 5 and ending August 11 at the Snyder-Girotti Elementary/Middle School, 450 Beaver Street. Breakfast and lunch are planned. Students will be engaged 200 minutes with academics and recreation, rotating daily among reading/writing (on their level), math/art, computer lab, and science experiments; recreation includes soccer, basketball, volleyball, wiffleball, flag football, and hockey. Field trips to the Trenton Thunder and Neshaminy State Park, sponsored by Borough Council, are scheduled as are programs with the Grundy Library. The purpose of the Camp is to keep students mentally and physically stimulated throughout the summer while having fun, thereby preventing the “summer slide” academically.

There is no cost to attend. Camp interest forms are now available at Snyder-Girotti Elementary, St. Mark School and Grundy Library. They also are available at the District website, www.bbsd.org, and the AOC website, www.bblc.com. Completed interest forms must be returned to Snyder-Girotti by May 27. Registration is on a “First come – First Serve” basis. A mandatory parents’ meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 16, either at 10 a.m. or 6 p.m., at Snyder-Girotti.
