SEPTA, which employs roughly 9,400 people, plans to increase spending three percent over the 2015-2016 budget, which runs through June 30. About $481,000,000 in revenues will come from passenger fares.
According to a the proposed budget, SEPTA does not plan any major cut backs on service. Savings are expected to come from fuel consumption, which will decrease by 2.2 million gallons annually due to replacing aging buses with more fuel efficient diesel-electric hybrids.
In addition, SEPTA plans to save money on litigation and payouts due to increased video evidence from surveillance cameras.
