Falls Township Lt. Hank Ward said Sgt. Ray Fanelli spotted a gray Audi speeding at well over 100 MPH on southbound Route 13 in the township around 9:30 p.m.

Fanelli began to pursue the vehicle after it failed to stop for him.

The Audi sped down Route 13 before turning onto Levittown Parkway in Tullytown. At that point, the car was greeted by Tullytown police, who set out stop sticks, but continued onto Kenwood Drive, Ward said.

As another police car came towards the Audi near Kenwood Drive North and Kenwood Crossing, the driver slammed on the brakes, sending Fanelli’s police truck into a large boulder on a front lawn of a home and eventually into a small tree, Ward said. The boulder was pushed about five feet when the police vehicle struck it.

The Audi ended up crashing into a street sign and taking out 30 feet of a resident’s fence.

Fanelli suffered various non-life-threatening injuries and was being treated as of midnight at an area hospital, Ward said.

Police said they suspect drugs were involved in the chase, possibly even being used in the Audi during the pursuit.

The driver of the Audi was a 17-year-old who was released to the custody of his parents pending charges. The other three people in the car were young adults and authorities were deciding whether to charge them, Ward said.
