
A Falls Township buffet has officially closed it’s doors.
Various national news outlets reported this week that the owner of Old Country Buffet and several other all-you-can-eat restaurant brands, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday, marking its third filing in less than a decade.

The Old Country Buffet location at 650 Commerce Boulevard in Fairless Hills closed on Sunday.
“That location is closed permanently,” a company employee, who did not give his name, said of the Falls Township location.
Buffets LLC, the current corporate entity overseeing the Old Country brand, said it is “closing certain weaker restaurants” that have been experiencing a decline in sales. The chain, which began in 1983, had closed more than 400 stores over the past eight years. Over the weekend, the company reported closed92 locations.

The company announced their bankruptcy filing was also a result of a crushing lawsuit, in which a district judge in Wyoming awarded $11.37 million to a Nebraska couple after a severe case of salmonella poisoning led to kidney failure after eating at an Old Country Buffet in 2010.
The company hasย about 150 stores left with about 9,000 employeesย inย more than 25 states, according to USA Today.
