Heckman Supporters Plan Rally To Save School

A group of Oliver Heckman Elementary School parents and community members are meeting Monday evening to discuss the potential closure of the school.

The Keep Heckman Open Rally will be held Monday at 6 p.m. inside the Middletown Municipal Building at 3 Municipal Way.

Organizers said the rally will talk about the next steps in the process and how the community to work together to help lobby the Neshaminy School Board to keep the Langhorne elementary school open.

Last month, hundreds of people attending a state-mandated hearing on the potential closure of the school. Most of the public speakers were against closing the school that serves all of Langhorne and the north end of Middletown. A few attendees did speak in favor of closing the school.

School board members have not revealed their plans for the property if the school is closed.

The school board will be able to make a decision on the school by April 7 at the earliest.
