Harry S. Truman High School Speech and Debate Coach Carl Grecco has been selected for a national coaching award.

The National Speech & Debate Association identified 12 coaches nationwide to receive prestigious Diamond Coach Awards for excellence and longevity in speech and debate coaching. Mr. Grecco is the only recipient to be awarded the Eighth Diamond.The association provides diamond awards based on coaching points received.
Commenting on his more than 50 years as a speech and debate coach, Mr.Grecco said, “When I debated in high school in 1965, I never thought that,60 years later, I would still be involved with this activity. However, this activity has been a high point in my career in Bristol Township. The pleasure comes from coaching so many who have gone on to careers in education, business, medicine and law. Their accomplishments are what has given me a sense of my own achievement by starting them on the path to success.”
Harry S. Truman High School’s debate team is nationally recognized and ended the 2014-2015 season as the Southeastern Pennsylvania Debate League champions – a title the team has held for the past seven years.

The National Speech & Debate Association’s Honor Society has been recognizing student and coach achievements in speech and debate since 1925. It is the largest high school speech and debate honor society in the world.
Individuals selected for the Diamond Coach Award will be honored in June at the national tournament in Salt Lake City.
