Republican congressional candidate Brian Fitzpatrick has received some early support from Lower Bucks County GOP committee members.
Fitzpatrick, a former FBI agent and brother of retiring Republican Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, easily defeated his five rivals in what will ultimately decide who gets the Bucks County Republican endorsement for Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional district in the primary election this April.

Republican committee members from across Lower Bucks County gathered Tuesday evening at the Bensalem Country Club to cast their ballots for the party endorsement. On Wednesday and Thursday, central and upper county Republicans will hold similar meetings and cast their ballots.
Fitzpatrick, who announced his candidacy last week in Doylestown, won almost unanimously over rivals State Rep. Scott Petri of Upper Makefield, former county commissioner Andy Warren of Middletown, attorney Dean Malik of Doylestown and neuropsychologist Marc Duome of Buckingham.
Fitzpatrick spokesperson Linda Mannherz said the former FBI agent was “delighted” at the results of Tuesday’s meeting. She said the voters likely looked at Fitzpatrick’s lengthy resume.

Democrats also have a primary contest. State Rep. Steve Santarsiero and businesswoman Shaughnessy Naughton are competing for the nomination.
