If it doesn’t snow by the end of the day on Wednesday, Philadelphia will have broken a record.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said Wednesday is expected to break the record for latest date in a winter season not to see at least a trace of snow. The previous record was set in 1995 and 2002, but broken both years when a trace of snow fell on January 6.

Despite bitter cold temperatures this week, no snow is expected to fall in the Philadelphia region, according to forecasters.

Allentown and Wilmington, Delaware have already recorded trace amounts of snow this winter.

The first few weeks of winter were mild with above-average temperatures and no frozen precipitation.
