Officials from the Bristol Township School District said Sunday that they believe the district’s two newest elementary schools will open for students Tuesday morning.
Despite not yet having occupancy permits, the district expects the township to issue them Monday for the new Brookwood Elementary School (James Buchanan Elementary School) on Haines Road and Mill Creek Elementary School (Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School) on Mill Creek Road.

“There is no reason to believe that the permits will not be issued tomorrow,” spokeswoman Leza Raffel said Sunday.
Raffel said workers addressed the “last remaining requests by the township” over the holiday weekend. She told LevittownNow.com the specific nature of the request were “not relevant if they have been addressed.”
The final walk-through by township inspectors is expected to take place Monday, Raffel said.

The roughly $40 million buildings have been loaded with new furniture and technology in the weeks leading up to the planned openings of the schools. While not having permits, officials said contractors and staff have been allowed to prepare the buildings for students.
Last week, Bristol Township’s fire marshal confirmed the two schools passed fire inspections.

The 1,300-student schools are already opening months behind schedule and over budget.
The head of the Bristol Township Department of Building, Planning and Zoning did not respond to a request for comment on the schools last week.
