A good Samaritan helped a Pennsylvania State Trooper place a man in handcuffs after a scuffle along I-95.
Calvin Daniels, whose age and residence was not identified, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, disarming an officer, and related offenses. He remains in prison on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

Troopers note that on Friday, December 18 shortly before 11 a.m., they observed a male, later identified as Daniels, walking the right shoulder of I-95 near the Lower Makefield and Middletown border.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, the trooper activated his emergency lights before seeking identification from the man. Police noted in court documents the man failed to produce a name, then told a trooper incorrectly his name was Kevin Mitchell, before telling officers he “did not use names”.
Daniels was asked to place his hands on the patrol car so the trooper could check for weapons on his person but he did not apply, according to court documents. Daniels reportedly became physically resistant with the officer and a struggle ensued, leading to the trooper to stun Daniels with his taser.

Court documents show that Daniels then moved and the taser connection was broken, allowing him to try to grab the taser from the officer’s hands. It was then that a good Samaritan came from behind the officer and helped place Daniels into handcuffs.
Daniels awaits a preliminary hearing set for January 7.
