Professional treatment of the A and B wings of the school will be treated by a pest management contractor Tuesday, Principal Brian Galloway wrote in a letter to parents. The school will close at 4 p.m. Tuesday and reopen at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The bed bugs were found in the building by a “licensed pest control specialist” with a specially-trained dog that was able to locate bed bugs in the building.

Galloway alerted parents that “bed bugs are not native to schools” and were likely brought into the building from a private home. He alerted parents to check their homes and belongings for parasitic insects that feed on blood. (Click here for more on bed bugs.)
