Haines and Mill Creek roads were lined with families Saturdayย as the annual Bristol Township Holiday Parade signaled the official start of the season.
Despite the seemingly unseasonably warm weather for mid-November, smiling faces wereย omnipresent along the parade route. People coming to the parade were made up of different groups from different Bucks County towns. Some lived close enough to walk, and did at the parade’s conclusion, but others came all the way from Bensalem, Newtown and beyond.

For more than 10ย years, Levittown resident John Shannon’s parents, Marsha and Tom, come up from Bensalem to join him for the annual parade. “I think more communities should do that [have parades], get people together like this,” Shannon’s mother, Marsha Shannon said. In recent years, John Shannon’s young son Josh has been accompanying the trio to the parade.
Local police, fire companies, sports teams and dance squads marched along the parade route that started at James Buchanana Elementary School and ended at the Benjamin Franklin School.
