A Bristol Borough resident was injured after their apartment caught fire Tuesday morning.

Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack said crews were dispatched to an apartment in the 200 block of McKinley Street at 12:57 a.m. for a fire with entrapment. A neighbor helped pull the resident of the burning apartment out by the time firefighters arrived.

The resident was rushed to Aria Health’s Torresdale campus and later transferred to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Slack said. The extent of the resident’s injuries are unknown as of press time but appeared to be serious.

The second-floor apartment where the fire happened suffered heat and smoke damage throughout. The most significant damage from the fire was in the living room of the apartment.

The fire remains under investigation by Bristol authorities and the Bucks County Fire Marshal is assisting.

Slack said three smoke alarms were located in the apartment, but two had their batteries removed.

Bristol fire companies are providing “tamper proof” smoke alarms with 10 year batteries for free to borough residents, Slack said.
