Over the next decade, experts estimate that 3.5 million manufacturing jobs will need to be filled. Of those, 2 million are expected to be unfilled, in large part, because of a skills gap which continues to drive worker shortages.
Also within the next 10 years, experts say that about half of the 600,000 electrician jobs nationwide will be open. As Baby Boomers continue to retire from trades positions and millennials focus on college, the need for skilled laborers will continue to grow.

For skilled drivers, tradesmen and women and laborers in Bucks County, Jennifer Schultz of RecruitmentQueen is trying to help fill the gap. The local digital job board is offering its second annual Transportation and Skilled Trades Job Fair on Nov. 17 in Bensalem Township.
The targeted hiring event will focus on a myriad of positions for candidates who have the skills needed to fill various roles, including CDL drivers, mechanics, electricians, landscapers, forklift operators, machinists, welders, press operators, construction personnel, maintenance, technicians, installers, engineers and more.
“Helping to match Bucks County’s skilled laborers, drivers and tradesmen and women with jobs suited to their abilities is important,” Schultz said, “particularly in light of the fact that these positions are so hard to fill, yet in such high demand.”

To date, Quad Graphics Inc. and Highway Transport Chemical will be exhibiting at the job fair. Many more employers are anticipated, according to Schultz.
