Authorities and school officials still are not certain whether there was an “unauthorized person” inside theย St. Michael The Archangel Catholic School in Tullytown Tuesday afternoon.

Principal Stephen DiCicco said the school secretary reported seeing a man in suit enter the building and disappear. After receiving the report, school staff began checking the building for the possible unauthorized person inside the private school off Levittown Parkway.

Officers began searching the building about 20 minutes after the school learned of the possible person inside the building, Chief of Police Daniel Doyle said.

Officers from the borough searched the building and wereย able to confirm the possible person inside the school was no longer there,ย DiCicco and Doyle said.ย All of the officers working in Tullytown at the time were called to the school for the search.

The chief said he was not pleased the school did not immediately alert police to a potential unauthorized person was in the school.

DiCicco said school officials initiallyย believed the possible person inside the building may have accidentally come in the school, which locks all of its doors during school hours, from the nearby social services building.

“We have very tight security here,”ย DiCicco said. “We have super security at our school.”

Doyle said he plans to go over security with school officials later this week.
