With Halloween upon us, the Pennsylvania State Police have released a list of safety tips:

โ€ข Welcome trick-or-treaters by turning on your exterior lights.
โ€ข Keep costumes short to prevent trips and falls while trick or treating.
โ€ข Masks can obstruct a childโ€™s vision, making it dangerous for them to cross streets. You may see them but they may not see you so drive slowly.
โ€ข Children should always be accompanied by adult or travel in a group.
โ€ข Remind children not to enter a strange house or car.
โ€ข Stay on sidewalks or paths rather than taking shortcuts through yards or back alleys.
โ€ข Use a flashlight when trick-or-treating.
โ€ข Do not approach houses that are not lit.
โ€ข Inspect all candy, making sure that it is unopened and in the original wrappers before eating.
