A grocery store that has been a staple in Fairless Hills is expected to close by the end of November, several store employees confirmed to LevittownNow.com.

The Pathmark in the Fairless Hills Shopping Center at 500 Lincoln Highway in Falls Township is set to close in the coming six weeks, according to store employees. A representative from Pathmark’s owner, A&P, said they could not comment on whether the store was closing.

The store’s pharmacy is expected to close first with discounts enticing shoppers to buy the grocery store’s remaining merchandise.

A&P has been auctioning off stores in the Mid-Atlantic and New England states in recent months after filing for bankruptcy. While some stores have closed for good, others have been bought by chains like Acme and H Mart.

On a recent auction list posted to CouponsInTheNews.com, the Fairless Hills store remains up for sale. A source familiar with the auction told LevittownNow.com the store had been purchased by a new owner who has not yet announced their intentions.

Without a buyer, the employees remaining at the Pathmark will likely be laid off.
