Louann Clem is causing a stink over her husband’s job loss.
A lawsuit filed last month in federal court by Louann Clem of Falls Township’s Levittown section states her husband, Richard, was fired from Case Pork Roll Company in Trenton, where they both worked, for passing too much gas in the workplace. Louann Clem’s suit states her husband’s firing violated federal laws protecting disabled workers.

Louann Clem is seeking unspecified amount of punitive and compensatory damages, according to case documents.
Louann and Richard Clem began being harassed by Thomas Dolan, president of the pork roll maker, due to the smell of the farts, the suit states. Dolan allegedly told the Levittown man to work from home due to the smell of flatulence in the office that hosted visitors.
The root of the flatulence was a gastric bypass surgery Richard Clem has undergone to drop weight in 2010. He suffered serious side effects like “extreme gas and uncontrollable diarrhea,” the suit claims.

“We have to do something about Rich,” Dolan allegedly told Louann Clem. “This can’t go on. We can’t run an office and have visitors with the odor in the office.”
After the alleged harassment, Richard Clem was fired in late February 2014 and his wife quit the same day.

“Business wasn’t good. They didn’t want to take a pay cut and walked out,” Tom Grieb, the owner of Case, told MyCentralNJ.com. “Neither one were fired. They are just saying that.”
Representatives for Case and Louann Clem were not available by phone Friday.
